# Field Ethics, Water, and Camping Guidelines

Practical ground guidelines for self-contained bicycle travel and respectful land use.

## 1. Water Sourcing & Filtration
- Always carry a minimum 3-liter baseline in arid or remote zones.
- Treat all natural water sources (streams, rivers, springs) with a hollow-fiber membrane filter (e.g., Sawyer Squeeze) or chemical purification.
- In municipal areas, public parks, libraries, fire stations, and cemetery faucets often provide potable municipal water. Always ask permission when on private property.

## 2. Campsite Etiquette & Leave-No-Trace
- Arrive late, leave early when using dispersed or public land camping spots.
- Pack out all trash and waste. Never bury plastics or food containers.
- Extinguish all cooking fires completely until cold to the touch.

## 3. Road Safety & Visibility
- Run daytime-visible rear blinking lights on high-speed rural highways.
- Avoid riding into direct morning or evening blinding sun on narrow shoulders.
